Updates

Please note that, given the current circumstances and Government advice, there may be some changes to our normal transition programme this year.

September 1st 2020 - latest letter to parents has been sent out, it includes information on face coverings, there's a copy on the resources page.

July 17th 2020 - we have sent out the latest letter to parents, there's a copy on the resources page.

July 17th 2020 - We've posted a list of items students should bring with them at the start of the new year.

After very careful consideration of the potential increased risk associated with gathering children together in groups from various primary schools across the city, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our usual transition days that were originally planned for 1st and 2nd July for Year 6 children. Similarly, we have carefully considered the significant health and safety challenges associated with running our forthcoming Parent/Carer evening which was scheduled to take place on 25th June. We have taken the decision that, in the interests of controlling the transmission of Coronavirus, it is the cautious, responsible, and safest option to not go ahead with the event this academic year.

These have both been very difficult decisions for us but we have concluded that on balance, the risks associated with going ahead with these events outweigh the benefits at this time. Please rest assured that we are working closely with primary schools to ensure that the transition to Jesmond Park Academy is as smooth as possible for all children in Year 6.

We have developed this area of our school website to include a range of resources to support you and your child with their transition to Jesmond Park Academy. We would be very grateful if you could look through these resources with them. The aim is that your child will complete the Maths, English, Science and Modern Foreign Languages activities in their primary school, along with some set homework, in preparation for them joining us in September. Your child can complete the general transition booklet activities with you at home as part of their preparation for joining us in September. We do expect that all of the transition work will be completed and brought into school by your child when they join us in September.

I will be writing to you about the arrangements for the start of term again in due course and we will also post any updates here. If you have any questions that are not answered in our transition FAQ’s section, please Contact Us and we will respond to you as soon as possible.

We are looking forward to welcoming your child to Jesmond Park Academy in September for the next exciting stage in their learning journey.
