Performing Arts

We believe the arts can play an exciting and leading role in providing a dynamic educational experience for our young people.

We endeavour to create an environment that is stimulating, collaborative, enriching, inquiring and creative, that opens young peoples’ minds, allows them to question and explore the world around them as well as foster a passion and love of the Arts and learning as a whole.

The Performing Arts allows students to be motivated, improves self-esteem, develops self-discipline, critical thinking and above all allows our young people to be innovative. Performing Arts is where our young people will gain the skills that cannot always be measured but will be crucial in the 21st Century society they will be a part of!

The Performing Arts Faculty includes the following subject areas: Music, Drama and Dance

Lower School

In KS3 all students have 1 lesson of Music and 1 lesson of Drama a week.

In Music students study a range of styles and genres over the three years developing their composing, performing and appraising skills.

It is an opportunity for students to participate in creating and developing their own compositions through exploring different styles and genres of Music. Students will develop their performance skills through regular performances of their own work in addition to published work. This all culminates in developing their appraisal skills. Students will have the opportunity to work in ensembles as well as on their own.

Drama gives students the chance to participate in creating and developing practical work with their peers. Throughout their time with us, all students will explore a range of topics and play texts in order to hone their creating skills. Students will develop their performance skills through regular performances of their own work in addition to published work. This all culminates in developing their evaluation and critical appreciation skills. Imagination and creativity are encouraged, as well as important group work and social skills, all in an exciting but supportive environment.
