Dear Parent/Carer,
I am extremely pleased to let you know that ALL students in ALL year groups will be returning to school on Monday 27th November. This is absolutely brilliant news for all of us after what has been an extremely difficult period of disruption for our school. The required works have been completed ahead of schedule to a point which will allow all year groups to return safely. There is still some work ongoing on very specific areas of the school site which will temporarily delay students returning to their normal programme of PE lessons. We do expect some disruption to this subject area but will work as hard as we can to mitigate any issues as much as possible. There is further information about PE later in this letter, with instructions for students to follow on days when they have PE on their timetable.
Students will be expected to arrive at the front Newton Road entrance on Monday morning for the normal time of 8.20am. Please note that students are not permitted to enter through the rear of the building under any circumstances, until informed otherwise. There are also some changes to student entrances into the school building in place until further notice.
- Year 7 will enter the building through the Maths main street doorway, using their normal registration area in Humanities
- Year 8 will enter the building through the Maths main street doorway, using their normal registration area in MFL
- Year 9 will enter the building through the English main street doorway, using their normal registration area in Science
- Year 10 enter the building using the English main street doorway, using their normal registration area in English
- Year 11 will enter/exit the building through main reception, using their normal registration area in Maths
- Students in Years 7-11 will be expected to leave the building through either the Maths or English main street exit, depending on where their last final lesson of the day is, at the end of the school day
- Sixth Form will enter/exit via main reception
Students will move around the building to subject areas, following their original timetable issued in September, during the school day.
There will be some adjustment to student timetables for PE which they will be informed about on their return to school. We currently have limited access to facilities such as changing rooms and indoor areas. Therefore, we are asking all Key Stage 3 students (Years 7-9) to bring a pair of trainers with them on the days that they have PE. Key Stage 4 students (Years 10 and 11) will continue with guided study during their core PE lessons and therefore need to attend with suitable materials. We will endeavour to get Key Stage 4 students back to practical activities in the near future.
The staff are very much looking forward to all of our students being back in school and returning to normal. It has been a challenging few weeks, and we unreservedly apologise to you for the disruption that this has caused to learning. However, safety is, and always will be, our number one priority and no compromises will be made on it.
Thank you for your ongoing patience and messages of support over recent weeks. It is greatly appreciated by all of the staff as we welcome all of our students back into school.
Warm regards,
STEVE CAMPBELL
