You will be employed by the Gosforth Group and will work across all locations within the Multi Academy Trust as required.

Jesmond Park Academy is a large, thriving and fully subscribed comprehensive school, which is rapidly making progress towards our vision of being outstanding. As a member of the Gosforth Academy led Multi Academy Trust we are working in partnership to lay the foundations for what promises to be an exciting and rapid period of change and development in the school’s history. Our academy offers a positive working experience, with an enthusiastic staff firmly focused on us becoming a leading academy in the city. If you want to be part of realising our vision, play your part in helping us to build on our already significant progress and development, and have a genuine desire to do the best for our students, then come and join us on our journey to being outstanding.

We are seeking an experienced and energetic HLTA to take a leading role in supporting students with literacy and EAL interventions. A thorough understanding of teaching literacy skills and how a student acquires an additional language is essential.

The role will be varied and interesting, working with a wide range of stakeholders to provide high quality support focused on maximising the outcomes for all students who need support to develop their English language skills.

At Jesmond Park Academy, 60 students per year group in Key Stage 3 normally receive literacy intervention. Furthermore, the school has an EAL cohort of 27%, with a small proposition of those students also needing support with their language acquisition.

The person appointed will have an excellent track record of supporting students to improve their English skills, through small group interventions. They may have primary or secondary school experience. A high level of literacy and numeracy and excellent ICT skills will be required. An accredited qualification in EAL is advantageous.

The academy is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.

Closing Date: 9am on Tuesday 20th July 2021

Interviews will take place on Thursday 22nd July 2021
