Our Year 7 girls represented Newcastle at the Tyne and Wear School games 7-a-side Football competition this week. They all worked so hard and played some fantastic football resulting in a third-place finish.
They won two of their group games against Kingsmeadow and Kepier but lost by a single goal to Hebburn. Other results meant they topped their group and played Thorpe Academy in the semi-final. They were very unlucky to be beaten, a deflected own goal gave the goalkeeper and defenders no chance, but, they kept battling to the very end.
In the 3rd place play off, they again faced Hebburn. It was another very close game; after the game finished 1-1, the girls won on penalties. A fine save from our goalkeeper sealed the win and gained the girls a bronze medal.
