We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a prestigious Artsmark Gold Award, by Arts Council England, in recognition of our fantastic arts provision. The Artsmark Award demonstrates our commitment to championing high quality arts and cultural education.
The Gold Award is given to settings where students are offered a range of arts qualifications and other avenues to extend their engagement in art subjects. Where there is high engagement in arts and cultural provision and pupils have opportunities to be creative and to perform in the arts, to access culture, see live performances and evaluate art works in a range of media. Arts and cultural experiences are inclusive and representative of the diversity of society.
The Artsmark assessor commended Jesmond Park Academy saying we ‘clearly maintained a strong commitment to the arts as a vehicle for effective learning….. Children are benefitting from your burgeoning partnerships with arts and culture professionals and organisations. Students regularly showcase their achievements in the arts in performances, exhibitions, recitals, assemblies, and in your Heaton Summer Shakespeare Festival, which is raising the profile of your arts work with school stakeholders and within the local community.’
We have demonstrated that every young person can be creative and access a diverse, high – quality cultural education at Jesmond Park Academy, acknowledging the value of Arts and Culture, for its wider contribution to wellbeing, personal development and our sense of community. We are immensely proud of achieving the Gold Award.
