JPA students met with the Violence Reduction Unit's Education team, to participate in focus groups in order to develop a drugs and alcohol programme, for use in schools and youth venues across the city.
In the initial focus groups, the students gave a young person's perspective on what they felt their peers needed to know about and what would keep them safe. They then participated in further focus groups to look at the package that was developed based on the work they had done, to give feedback on it and to suggest any further tweaks that could be made.
The package that has been developed has been completely shaped by the students and will make a huge difference in schools across the city. We are incredibly proud of our students for their active role in this and for being fantastic representatives of Jesmond Park Academy.
