COVID Vaccinations

Date Published:
Wednesday 12 January 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

Hope you and your families are well rested and enjoyed the Christmas break.  We now have roughly 1000 students in school who have received their first COVID vaccination.

The School Immunisation Team are returning to school on 28th January to administer the second dose.

If you would like your child to receive their second COVID vaccination

All students in Year 7 to 11 have been given a new consent form this morning.  If you would like your child to receive the second vaccination on 28th January, please complete and return the consent form by Friday 14th January.

If your child hasn’t received their first COVID vaccination

If your child has not received their first vaccination for COVID and they are aged 12-15 years, please complete the consent form that they were given today and return it to school by Friday 14th January.  They will then receive their first dose on 28th January.

Why might my child not be vaccinated on 28th January?

Your child may not be vaccinated on 28th January due to the reasons outline below:

  • They have had COVID in the last 12 weeks.
  • The consent form was not returned to school / completed incorrectly.
  • Your child wasn’t between the ages of 12-15 years old.
  • Your child did not attend the assembly hall when asked to by staff.

Further information

The 12-15 year old vaccination consent form should only be completed and returned for students that will be at least 12 years of age, and still under 16 years of age, on 28th January. Students aged 11 or 16 years on the 28th January cannot be vaccinated in school.

A Covid-19 vaccine will only be administered if we have received a fully completed and signed paper consent form. If there is any disagreement between parents and their children regarding consent, this will be picked up by the vaccinations team. The local authority is working with relevant agencies to support the vaccination rollout. Any queries relating to the vaccination of the Students aged 12 to 15 will be dealt with by the vaccination team.

Yours faithfully,

Chris Aitken
