New Uniform Guidance for September 2026

As part of our ongoing commitment to equity, inclusion, and poverty proofing across our Trust (Gosforth Group), we have reviewed our school uniform expectations for September 2026.

This review follows updated Department for Education guidance on the affordability of school uniforms and reflects our determination to ensure that our uniform remains accessible to all families.

To support this, we have reduced the number of items that require a school logo to the following:

    • School navy round neck sweatshirt with logo* and relevant Year Group colour circle
    • School white polo shirt with logo*
    • School black and red PE polo shirt with logo*

*These items should be purchased from our approved uniform supplier, Michael Sehgal & Sons Ltd. Other items can be purchased from any supplier or retail store.

    School Coats

With immediate effect, families will no longer be required to purchase/provide a specific school coat. We understand that parents wish to choose a coat suitable for changing weather conditions, and we want to remove the need for pupils to own a separate coat exclusively for school.

To ensure coats remain practical and appropriate for school, we ask that they meet the following guidance:

    • Coats should be in keeping with our high expectations for standards of dress. Denim, leather, and camouflage-style coats are not permitted.
    • We recommend coats that are warm, waterproof, and include reflective elements to support pupil safety when travelling to and from school.
    • Coats must not be worn inside the school building, and pupils should be able to store them in their school bag during the day.
    • We strongly advise against purchasing expensive, branded coats. Please note that the school cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to individual items.

Please note that the current uniform requirements remain unchanged until the end of the summer term.

From September 2026, the uniform requirements will be as follows...

The Year Group colours (colour circle around the school logo) below apply to school polo shirt and school sweatshirt for September 2026:

    • Year 7 – Badge circled in Green

All existing uniform items, with or without the school logo, that met our previous uniform requirements may continue to be worn until they naturally need to be replaced.

    General Guidance

We consider wearing a school uniform to be very important, and we appreciate the support of our parents, carers, and guardians in helping us maintain our high standards.

We expect students to come to school looking tidy and presentable:

    • Jewellery is restricted to a single pair of stud earrings.
    • A watch is allowed; however, please note that Smart Watches are not allowed.
    • All students must wear a suitable school coat to and from school. Coats need to be removed inside the school building, including any non-uniform jumpers, hoodies or fleeces.
    • Personal stereos and/or headphones should not be worn while in the school building.
    • Mobiles should be switched off or on silent and remain in the school bag throughout the school day.
    • Hair should be a natural colour without extreme styles, including shaved heads, tramlines, or dyed hair.
    • Hair accessories should be plain black, navy or white and not excessive.
    • Religious headwear should be plain black, navy or white.
    • Natural looking make-up is permitted.
    • Excessive makeup, false nails and nail varnish are not allowed.

It is recommended that all uniform and personal property items be labelled with the student's name to facilitate their return.

Please note that our lists may not cover every item. If you have any questions about our uniform requirements, we encourage you to check with our school office before making any purchases. The Senior Leadership Team will make the final decision on what is deemed suitable for uniform. Uniforms will be checked by staff daily.
