  • MCR Pathways

MCR Pathways is one of the many waves of support offered at Jesmond Park Academy. MCR Pathways is a charity whose mission is to help young people unlock their potential, no matter their circumstances. Students partake in our school-based mentoring programme where they are matched with a fully trained volunteer mentor. Working together with our inspiring mentor community and partners, we can help young people to realise their skills and potential and progress to a positive destination.

    • In Year 7 & 8, our MCR Pathways Coordinator runs weekly group work sessions, covering topics from relationship building and teamwork, to community and resilience and health and wellbeing.
    • In Year 9 to Year 11, students have the opportunity to be matched with their own volunteer mentor from our local community. Student and mentor are matched based on their hobbies and interests, career aspirations and personality. They then meet for one hour once a week for at least one year.

    Mentee story:

‘Mentoring has helped me open up more. When I first started meeting my mentor, I didn’t really say much, and I was quiet. But now that I speak to her every week, I have started opening up to teachers and speaking more in class. I don’t see her as a mentor, but a friend. ‘ – Young Person Harlaw Academy, Aberdeen.
