Celebrating our students' GCSE success and bright futures

This morning we celebrated our students' achievements and our best ever GCSE results.

Today, we are celebrating our Year 11 students as they collect their GCSE results and look ahead to exciting next steps in their education and future careers.

There have been some incredible individual achievements, all characterised by the students’ hard work and determination over several years. Behind every successful student there is a support network of school, friends and family, and our thanks go to them. The vast majority of our students are now able to go on and pursue their preferred educational pathway into Sixth Form, college, apprenticeships or training.

At Jesmond Park Academy, we are proud of every student's success. For some, that success comes in the form of outstanding grades; for others, it is achieving results that reflect their potential regardless of the level. We are most proud of the effort rather than the outcomes. Some of our students have had significant challenges to overcome through their years at school and education has not always been straightforward for them. We are immensely proud that they have continued to value education and have now reached their goals.

These are the best GCSE Results in the history of Jesmond Park Academy, and the following are all new landmarks:

  • 75% of students achieved a 5+ in English
  • 63% of students achieved a 5+ in Maths
  • 65% of students achieved a 5+ in 2 Sciences
  • Overall Attainment 8 of 52.78

Jesmond Park Academy students achieved an overall pass rate of 97.3%, with a third of all grades awarded at 7-9.

Students will now progress to a wide range of destinations, including Jesmond Park Academy Sixth Form, further education colleges, apprenticeships and specialist training pathways. Whatever their chosen route, they leave with great memories of the last five years at school and the wider enrichment experiences that they have been a part of such as student elections, culture day, sports teams, educational visits, Duke of Edinburgh award, foreign travel and work experience to name a few.

Among those celebrating today were students who have excelled academically, students who have balanced their studies alongside sporting, creative and community commitments, and students whose perseverance and resilience have enabled them to achieve outcomes they can be truly proud of.

Dave Merrifield, Head of School, said:

"Today is a day to celebrate our young people and everything they have achieved. We are incredibly proud of this year group, not only for their results but for the character, determination and resilience they have shown throughout their time at Jesmond Park Academy. Every student has their own story and their own successes, and it has been wonderful to see them supporting one another and sharing in those achievements today.

As they move on to the next stage of their journey, whether that is with us in the Sixth Form or elsewhere, we know they have bright futures ahead of them and we look forward to seeing all they go on to achieve."

Steve Campbell, Executive Headteacher, said:

"These results represent much more than grades. They reflect years of commitment, growth and ambition from a fantastic group of young people who have made a significant contribution to our school community. We are amazed at how well our students have done this year, and we couldn’t be more proud.”

At Jesmond Park Academy, we want every student to leave us ready for whatever comes next. Today we celebrate not only their achievements in the classroom but also the confidence, independence and aspirations they have developed along the way. We are proud of every one of them and wish them every success as they take their next steps."

As part of Gosforth Group Trust, Jesmond Park Academy is committed to creating futures for all young people, ensuring every student is supported to fulfil their potential and pursue their aspirations with confidence. Today's results are another reminder that success comes in many forms, and that every future is worth celebrating.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We are proud of all you have achieved and excited to see where your journey takes you next.
