Upcoming Year 11 events

Year 11 Parent/Carer Consultation Session

We are holding our Year 11 Parent/Carer Evening on Monday 16th December 2019 between 3pm and 7pm.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to speak to your child’s subject teachers, not only to find out more about their progress, but also to discuss any matters that may help us to support them.  As your child is in Year 11, we strongly encourage that they attend the evening with you.  This will be your final opportunity to speak individually with your child’ssubject teachers in this way before the GCSE examinations.

For this session, you will be given a timed appointment with your child’s teachers.  This year we would also like to offer you an appointment with a representative from Sixth Form and/or a member of our Careers team if you feel this would be of use.  It is necessary, however, to limit the time to a maximum of eight appointments of five minutes.  (You can, of course, see fewer than eight).  This allows the evening to be more efficient and reduces the time waiting.  If you require a longer appointment, it will be necessary for you to make arrangements with the subject teacher for a date and time convenient to you both.

Please indicate the most convenient times for yourself, and select the teachers that you wish to see, no later than Friday 22 November.  We are unable to guarantee that any appointments will be made if the form is returned late.

Mr Holmes, Director of Student Progress, will also be available during this evening, as well as your child’s Head of Year (Mr Mason), Associate Head of Year (Ms Clark) and Year Manager (Mrs Hearons).

Appointments will be posted on Thursday 5 December.  If you are unable to attend after the appointments have been made, please notify Mrs Caroline Chirnside as soon as possible.

How to Support Your Child in English Language and Literature

We are also holding a ‘How to Support Your Child in English Language and Literature’ Parent/Carer and student session.  This will be an event where you and your child take part in a ‘lesson with a difference’.  This will be an interactive session and will have a range of take home ideas and resources to support you supporting your child with English Language and Literature at home.  It will be approximately an hour long and we are running two identical sessions; one after school on Wednesday 4th December at 6:30pm, and one during the school day on Thursday 5th December at 1:30pm.  Again, we would strongly encourage you to attend one of these sessions.  Please indicate which one you will be attending on the reply slip enclosed.

Sixth Form Information Evening

We are also holding our Sixth Form Information Evening on Tuesday 10th December.  Specific details are here.

A future date for your diary is Wednesday 12th February when we will be holding our annual ‘How to Support Your Child in the Final GCSE Examinations’ evening.  We will write to you after the Christmas break with further details.  As above, we would expect that both you and your child attend.

We will also write to you again at the start of December with further details of your child’s mock examinations, which take place from Tuesday 7th January to Friday 17th January.

Thank you for your continued support, and we very much look forward to seeing you and your child at our upcoming events.

Yours sincerely

Mr N Holmes

Director of Student Progress
