MAT Notices to Parents - Latest 20th March

20th March 2020

Trip refunds

All trips have been cancelled.

We know that the lack of information about potential refunds is upsetting and frustrating.  We’re truly sorry that it’s taking so long to get you any information.

Please be assured that our finance team are working hard on your behalf and are negotiating with our insurers.

As soon as we know what is happening we will let you know via the website – with current disruption we have no idea of a timescale.

Currently we are managing with the fewest people needed for safe operation.

Until further notice

The school is closed to visitors.  Please do not phone or email queries.

We’re really sorry to have to ask this – these are extraordinary times.

Key Workers needing provision

Home is the safest place for your child to be currently.

We are hosting vulnerable students and children of key workers if staying at home is absolutely not possible; providing them with a safe place – this is not lessons as normal.

If your circumstances have changed since 20th March 2020 and you NOW need a place which you did not before, you must contact KBlackburn@jesmondparkacademy.org.uk to make a request.

Do not send your child to school until this has been agreed.

Students attending school are required to wear full uniform and have their planner.

If anyone at home has a high temperature, a new continuous cough or any other symptoms of Covid-19 the entire household must self-isolate for 14 days.  If your child has any underlying medical conditions or is ill they must be kept at home.

Contacting School after 20th March 2020

The school is currently only open to vulnerable students and children of key workers.

We are managing with the fewest people needed for safe operation.

Until further notice:

We’re really sorry to have to ask this – these are extraordinary times.

Dear Parent / Carer

The Government have decided to close all schools after this Friday until further notice. However, we will host vulnerable students and children of key workers; providing them with a safe place – this will not be lessons as normal.

If you are a Key Worker please complete the online Survey here. (Key Worker List)

Vulnerable students are those with an Education Health and Care Plan or who have a Social Worker. If your child is in this category please contact the school to let us know if your child will be attending.

Students attending school are required to wear full uniform and have their planner.

If anyone at home has a high temperature, a new continuous cough or any other symptoms of Covid-19 the entire household must self-isolate for 14 days. If your child has any underlying medical conditions they should be kept at home.

Many thanks for your constant support during this challenging period. We will continue to use the school website / texts as the main way we communicate with you – please check regularly.

School staff are showing themselves to be truly key in the fight this country is engaged in. We salute their calm composure and unstinting professionalism.

Yours sincerely

Hugh Robinson, Chief Executive Officer

Dear Parent / Carer

The Government decision remains not to close schools. We will do whatever we can to assure the health and safety of staff, students and your families.

The situation is changing very fast so please keep looking for text and website updates. Increased student and staff absence, mandated for those with underlying health conditions and people who need to self-isolate, mean we need to take the following actions:

At Jesmond Park Academy we are closing the school to Year 8 from Thursday 19th March 2020 and to Year 9 from Friday the 20th March 2020 until further notice.

The decision to partially close has been taken with much regret. At this time we are determined that students with Free School Meals should not suffer.

Those students should come into school each day for lunch at the usual time – wearing full uniform and with their planner. We salute the efforts of key workers in the current crisis and want to help as much as we can.

We will continue to host children of key workers in those year groups [NHS staff, teachers, pharmacists, social care providers and emergency services] providing them with a safe place to work – this will not be lessons as normal. If anyone at home has a high temperature, a new continuous cough or any other symptoms of Covid-19 the entire household must self-isolate for 14 days. If your child has any underlying medical conditions we recommend that they are kept at home.

Many thanks for all your continued and constant support.

School staff are showing inspiring dedication and professionalism in what is an increasingly difficult situation. They are showing themselves to be stalwart in the fight our community and country is engaged in. Our solidarity and calm is vital at this moment.

Yours sincerely

Hugh Robinson, Chief Executive Officer
