YEARS 7–9 ‘YELLOW WEEK’ ACTIVITY DAY: THURSDAY 18 JULY 2024

Date Published:
Thursday 25 April 2024

Dear Parent/Carer,

YEARS 7 – 9 ‘YELLOW WEEK’ ACTIVITY DAY: THURSDAY 18 JULY 2024

At Jesmond Park Academy the last week of term is called ‘Yellow Week’.  During this week, our Year 10 students will be taking part in their work experience week, and some Year 7 and 8 students will be on a trip to France.

On the Thursday of ‘Yellow Week’ we are having our Year 7 – 9 ‘Yellow Week’ activity day.  On this day there will be no normal teaching as Years 7, 8 & 9 students will be involved in a number of different activities organised by Jesmond Park Academy staff.  Details of other activities taking place on this day will follow.

The main activity that we have organised so far is a day trip to Kingswood Dukehouse Wood Outdoor Activity centre in Northumberland.  This would involve three 90-minute outdoor activities such as:

  • Climbing Wall
  • Leap of Faith
  • Jacob’s Ladder
  • Zipwire
  • Abseiling

The exact nature of the individual activities will depend upon our JPA carousel of activities allocated on the day.  We will arrive at Kingswood at 9:30am and depart by 3:00pm.

We are limited to 350 places, and they will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, and after that we will operate a waiting list.

The cost per child will be £31 and this will cover all of the activities for the day, including coach travel there and back.

Please note that Jesmond Park Academy no longer accept cash for trips.  Payment must be made through the SCOPAY system.  Please contact Lyndsey Jennings if you do not have a Scopay account set up yet.  (ljennings@jesmondparkacademy.org.uk).

Please note that this payment is non-refundable should your child change their mind about going on the trip.  Please also be aware that attendance on the trip is dependent on your child’s continued compliance with the school’s Praise Code.

This is the main activity that we have organised so far for our activity day, so we urge you to book as soon as you can if you wish your child to be able to attend the KS3 activity day at Kingswood.

The booking/payment system for this trip will open at 9:00am on Friday 26 April 2024 once all students in Years 7, 8 & 9 have received the letter.  If you think that you might require support towards the cost of the trip please email Lyndsey Jennings as per above.

Once your child’s place on the trip is confirmed we will obviously send much more detailed information regarding what your child will need to take, medical consent forms and all other paperwork associated with your child going out of school on an activity.

If the trip is full (the booking system will close once 350 places have been booked) please contact Lyndsey Jennings (see above) to put your child on our waiting list.

Yours faithfully,

Mr N Holmes
