To celebrate Young Poets Week, which runs this week, a selection of Year 8 students took part in a live interactive masterclass with Nikita Gill and Karl Nova. The online session was organised by The National Literacy Trust. Year 8 students are currently studying Culture Poetry, so this activity enhanced their classroom learning. Both poets shared tips and techniques to help students spark ideas, experiment with language, and shape their writing into a variety of poetic forms. The students also shared the poems that they created live during the session and learnt new techniques to include in their own writing. #nationalliteracytrust #nationalpoetrycentre #youngpoetsweek

On Friday 21st November some of our instrumentalists from lower school attended the Royal Grammar School's Big Play Day. The aim of this was to allow students who play orchestral instruments to grade 1 equivalent level and above, to come together to make music. They spent the morning working with instrumental specialists in sectionals and met up in the afternoon as an orchestra of around 260 players. The performances were outstanding! The students were brilliant ambassadors of Jesmond Park Academy. Their effort, behaviour and musicianship were first class. We are very proud of you all! Huge thanks to the Royal Grammar School for giving us such a wonderful opportunity. #rgsnewcastle
